* Regarding broadcasting in languages other than Turkish, time restrictions apply. All broadcasts except songs must be subtitled or translated into Turkish, which makes live broadcasts technically cumbersome. Educational programmes teaching the Kurdish language are not allowed.
* Children whose mother tongue is not Turkish cannot learn their mother tongue through the Turkish public schooling system. Such education can be provided only by private educational institutions. In the case of Kurdish, all such courses were terminated in 2004. Today there are no opportunities to learn Kurdish either in the public or the private schooling system.
* Use of languages other than Turkish remains illegal in the political sphere. Several investigations and court cases have been launched against officials and executives of the Democratic Society Party (DTP). In February and April several members of the Right and Freedoms Party (Hak-Par) were sentenced in two separate court cases for having spoken Kurdish during a party general congress.
Non ?
* The legislative elections in July resulted in increased representation of voters from the southeast of Turkey. However, the overall socio-economic situation in the southeast remains difficult. No steps have been taken to develop a comprehensive strategy to achieve economic and social development in the region and to create conditions required for the Kurdish population to enjoy full rights and freedoms. There has been a further deterioration of the situation in terms of attacks by the PKK and other terrorist groups.
OU JUSTE POUR EMMERDER, FRAGILISER LE PAYS DONT LES CONTRIBUABLES MAJEURS, QUI EUX NE S'AMUSENT PAS A FAIRE 8 à 10 GOSSES VOIENT LEUR SITUATION FRAGILISEES, ET DONC ECONOMIQUEMENT AUSSI, DU COUP, MAIS QUI EUX SERAIENT SENSES PAYER DES ECOLES PRIVEES POUR UNE REGION OU PREUVE A ETE FAITE PAR L'EXPERIENCE, ILS N'ENVOIENT MÊME PAS LEURS GOSSES !
Rural poverty has declined in the Republic of Turkey over the past ten years, but extreme disparities of income and poverty levels persist across the country. In poor rural areas, family size is nearly twice the national average, adult literacy rates are far lower than the national average, there are fewer doctors, agricultural production per capita is lower, and fewer women are among the employed.
Currently there are more rural people living in poverty than urban people. The overall poverty rate in rural households is 35 per cent, compared to 22 per cent in urban households. That margin is diminishing as more and more rural people migrate to urban areas, mainly in the more prosperous western parts of the country.
Poverty is deepest in remote mountainous areas, where poor rural people tend to be economically, physically, intellectually and socially isolated from the rest of the nation.
Who are Turkey’s poor rural people?
The poorest rural people are self-employed and unpaid family workers. They include small-scale farmers and their households and people who live in remote and isolated areas. Women and unemployed young people are particularly disadvantaged.
Where are they?
The poorest people live in the country’s least developed areas in eastern and south-eastern Anatolia and parts of the coastal regions on the Black Sea. Incomes in those areas are 40 per cent lower than the national average.
Why are they poor?
Common causes of poverty among disadvantaged people in Turkey’s rural areas include:
the large size of families and the small size of landholdings
long-term environmental problems such as overgrazing and soil erosion
lack of infrastructure such as roads and markets in remote areas
lack of an effective welfare safety net for very poor people

Merci!
